Energy Surge Last Night?

Last Night, June 14 2009, at about 2:10 AM Eastern Standard Time (US) there was a surge of energy here in the house I am living in. I was awoken by all of the smoke detectors going off simultaniously for a few seconds. This was followed by waves of energy pulsing through my consciousness for a few minutes. I was just wondering if this was localized to my location or if it was more wide spread.
