Once described as the world's greatest treasurer, former prime minister Paul Keating joins Lateline to discuss the current global financial meltdown, and thus the future economic uncertainty.

2009 is the first year of 'contraction credit' since 1947.
He sees a glimmer of light, but "it won't come with the American's playing tricky pool at the expense of all the surplus countries any longer."
