What nobody has mentioned anywhere yet is agricultural failure. The banking fall of capitalism is known and theoretical (You can't eat metal and paper - see other post in this thread) but the collapse of farming is another matter. Recently it was announced that researchers had found out that factory farming is a bad thing, not only for the creatures involved but for us further up the food chain. Groups like PETA and Compassion in World Farming have been trying to get this message across for years. How we treat the food resources we need for our survival will come back on us if we downgrade them (We are what we eat). Forced feeding of crops and animals, crowded disease ridden conditions, pest control spraying and now GM crops have all contributed to the decline in life quality for what we eat and therefore ultimately to ourselves. What I see happening in the not too distant future in an agricultural collapse because like a mine, we will have worked and worn out the genetic vein we need to survive on and we will have nothing of substance left to it (It's already happened with trace elements - how long before this applies to everything is the only question: De-nurtured and denatured life forms). Panic spirals (feeds on itself to become a self-fulfilling prophecy, where you can't cope and can't control everything or indeed anything, anymore). This is the supposed disaster you face now - a mental one for addicts. What fight hardest to protect its illusions? An addict, whether a violent individual or a race. This is what this desperate situation is really about - taking the comfort blanket from the child (This paradigm, this belief system).
Quality of life is dying out in favour of quantity and there has to be a limit that this planet can stand, just as there is a limit an individuals can. If we don't control population growth at source (birth control methods), then it will automatically be controlled at adult level in a fight for resources (War, followed by disease through breakdown of even fundamental hygiene and, preceded by famine and drought - the fourth horseman of the Apocalypse, death is actually soul death (pointlessness as in this present celebrity culture/ apathy). Art has also lost its way too becoming a status symbol for wealth rather than a creative form for the skills and creativity of the individual. The only currency of any value in this society is 'community' and that has been all but forgotten in a greedy (fear filled) free-for-all addiction to materialism. The world works on magic. When you stop believing in it, it ceases to work as we are currently seeing. Belief in something greater than your individual self (religion/ spirituality) is the key to survival. End times? Prophecy is easy - everything ends and everything begins again in the great big cycle of life, so it is easy to predict death and destruction as well as rebirth - only precise timing is difficult and that is where it becomes a science or an art. This crisis is about addiction. Addicts run from life and addiction itself requires this inability to stop and think. From the point of view of the pimp (society itself) continual pressure must be applied to stop the addict slipping out of bad habits and into new (creative/ original) ones. Suppression then goes hand in hand with it and therefore fear and fear tactics. Last edited by paigetheoracle; 10-15-2008 at 06:33 PM. |
