All my life i have found myself attracted to storms...
Mother nature at her worst some say... well i always saw it as Mother , at her best... Winds.. gently skating across the top on calm waters... Ripples in the water showing us the wind... Wild winds twirling and blowing , trees bending, violent crashes... ![]() Water....gentle sounds of the rain on a window...feel of cool rain on my face..... Downpours, sheets of water falling straight down.... ![]() Lightning... Ahh my first real fear...learned to love its passion and its randomness.. To the point now where we seek it out.. Storm chasers some call us *celine laughs and winks at Richard* ![]() Snow... ahh this is one of my favorites... As Mother covers herself with the gentle touch of a snowflake, her landscapes change drasticaly.. the beings on the land alter their habits... Life changes...and when snow falls in abundance, even the cities can become quiet places... ![]() One of my favorite things about storms is how it brings people together.. Ice storm in montreal 1998...such fond memories.. Between January 4th and 10th, 1998, parts of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec were hit by 3 successive storm fronts that have been called the greatest natural disaster in Canadian history. The storm's greatest impacts were profound and lengthy disruption to daily life and far-reaching economic consequences. The total precipitation, which fell as freezing rain, ice pellets and snow, exceeded 73 mm in Kingston, 85 mm in Ottawa and 100 mm south of Montreal. Canada's largest recorded ice storms, in Ottawa in December 1986 and Montreal in February 1961, left 30 to 40 mm of ice. This is one of the main hydro lines...all but 1 was down due to the storm.. some people were out of power for 4 weeks. ![]() We lost A LOT of trees.. ![]() Please share your storm stories and pictures!
