Default Make up or not make up ...yes that is the question .

But why i here you ask ??

well me girl friend and I have been having a bit of a banter

this is how it goes .... me ...girfriend i was putting make up on recently

and i suddenley saw how rediculous it was ... and then i took it deeper look at whats this all about .

I grew up with this Make up lark .......wouldnt go out the house without it ...

spent a fortune on it ...

Then deeper ,so why do i need it .. hmm well that must be because
i dont belive im beautifull enough ... er the way i am er ... that makes me not attractive then ... er not good enough then ....

so this seems like a superficial topic tho it is.. off topic ,that is.....

so is it realy ... could it be more of that same old condtioning ...
get us girls to buy into all this chemical , addative full, B-S called

make up , is it more make out perhaps... than make up ...
make up for what not being attractive enough without it ... hmmm

Well lets not forget that the cosmetic industry is a milti billion dollor

profti making off of fthe backs of allready beautifull enough women
and sadley loverly vulnerable young girls ...with skin like peaches and cream ...

im having a rant does it show ... ... ok im not quite done here bear with me ...yes its nice to look nice ... but whan does looking nice turn into looking like you just bought into the industries lies that your not enough .. keeping up with fashion hmm dare i go there ...

I do no that allmost everyman i have ever talked to on this has told me they dont like make up , and prefer women without it ..

Ladies please dont bite rhythms head off i know some of you, many maby , dont do it for MEN but for yourself ... and i attack you not here ...

hey chaps tell me what yer realy feel about all this ....if you dare .
and girlfriends what do you feel ...be honest now ....

who"s pockets are we linning with our hard earned cash ..
WATERPROOF MASCARA GIRLS ...it dont run whan you cry after shelling out all that cash... love yers all .... ....au naturale....

Speaking as a chap (and I am from England), allow me to throw that gauntlet right back at you and dare you to post 2 pictures; one of you without make-up, and one with. And then we can all pass judgement A sort of anecdotal scientific experiment if you will

Good subject, rhythm. When I was a young girl, between say 9-13, I loved make up. I used to play with it and design new ways to put it on all the time. My mom allowed me to because she knew it was no big deal. I always had a good head on my shoulders. But if I was going to be anywhere near a boy, I wanted to have make up and be all gussied up. Wow, just remembered trying to dress up like Olivia Newton-John from Grease in pre-school. Dang, I was brainwashed young. haha

By the time I was in high school, an all girl Catholic high school. I could care less about make up. We all just kinda rolled outta bed and came to school because we all wore uniforms and there were no boys. I started to wear less and less make up, even on dates. I was pretty much down to mascara and lipstick. What I began to notice was I got more attention when I didn't have much on. Most times now I just wear lipstick or lip gloss and everyone always comments on how much more beautiful I am with just that or nothing than when I am trying to "put on my face". For a time I thought by not wearing make up, I could hide because I was noticed too much by too many. I'm not gorgeous by any means but people tell me I'm like a light in a lighthouse and people just zoom in on me so I wanted to hide. Now I no longer care if I am noticed or not.

Being in this place now, I think make up is a mask, not far all, for some. Make up can be very interesting and beautiful but so can the art that is your own skin and face. I think it's not about the make up but the attitude, the soul that comes forth through how you feel and carry yourself. In my experience, the people who are so attracted to wear or be with one wears make up tend to be a little superficial. I'm going to get slammed for that. I think it's just another mask we all wear. Anyway, rambling done. Lost my point in all of that I'm sure. What do you all think? I'm interested to hear this from everyone's perspective since so many women and even men now feel they cannot leave home without make up.

No need to worry Rhythm. It was all said in jest

On the whole make-up issue itself in general though, I think that it is all down to the intention behind it. Women really can use make-up to Highlight their features. And also, one can view it from an artistic side. If it makes a woman happy, then go for it.

I get the sense that the 'illusion has been shattered' for you though in your post. But for all those women out there that still like make-up, avoid the 'Amy Winehouse eyes' look at all times

I just came across this in the book Dancing with the infinite
by Prasad... feel it wil be quite appropriate here
##################################
The body goes thru many changes between birth and death .
If your attached to the way it looked a few years ago , what do you feel ? You cant rely on that which changes ; you can only rely on that which is permanent . There"s security only in abiding in that which doesnt change , so stop trying to impose the truth , the absolute truth, on the relative world . You cant stop your body from growing old , no matter how you try with human growth hormones , face lifts ,and fashions .You cannot stop the clock within the relative world . The body is born and will die ; find that which doesnt die
and abide here . Then your at peace , no matter what happens to the form .....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I also note that it has become the enemy to look or be old
once again i question where is this coming from ... more conditioning im sure all the media focus on youth and beauty as if there is no value in an ageing person ... here in the west we often write them off ... where as in the the east .. and other cultures like spain ,Ialiy,tibal peoples there elderly are treated with respect and are seen as the wise elders ......its good to question our values i feel ....love and sharing weather were young or old the love remains the same ....wrinkles show a life well lived ...with many stories to tell ... try to keep the twinkle in yer eye tho..........
I dislike makeup, especially the kind that is supposed to cover-up what people consider to be imperfections. It's creating a falsely-inflated sense of self-esteem that in the long run, will do nothing for the person using it.
There are usually homeopathic and alternative treatments for skin disorders, should conventional methods fail.
Regardless, all makeup does is create a "mask" for the person wearing it. I want to see true beauty, not someone that's airbrushed themselves.
I see so many absolutely beautiful older women. They are gorgeous from the inside out. I don't know what it is but I feel like many women are beginning to enjoy themselves and not need anything but what is within them. I can see it and it is amazingly beautiful. We all have to remember we are all gorgeous. We are perfect. If we need a little help to feel beautiful, that's ok but the problem is when it becomes an obsession as with anything. That's my take.
EDIT ADDITION: A person who is drop dead gorgeous on the outside may soon be seen as ugly if they are filled with hate and not love. And vice versa.
One of the most enlightened people I know does her eyes up quite a bit. I think it's a connection to her past lives in Egypt. I am guessing she spends that tme looking into her own eyes and making the connection to her ancient self before spending an entire day listening to other people's problems. I never asked, I just enjoy this about her.
Looking at your own avatar there rhythm, that creature of female beauty is very heavily adorned, and would appear to be wearing make-up.
It's ancient ritual to adorn and enhance in probably all cultures, from so called primitive to highly sophisticated. Why not? It's all about the attitude/intention.
Just making it a conscious choice is what makes someone look interesting to me, either way.
Now that is awesome. I know only one person who makes make up a conscious art form on a daily basis. Now I guess I sort of know two and that is beautiful! Thank you for giving me a new way to look at things. That's very intriguing.
H aving watched the OMO tribe vid
who cover there bodys with paint
from nature shells and foliage ect
it feels that they have it right
they are still connected to the earth
and the gifts that she brings
they do look beutifull .. but in a natural way..
and i know the american indians
also used to paint there faces ...for different reasons..
perhaps this is a deeper question that i ask
pleeze i do not make judgement here .. nor do i need to be judged...not helfull..
i wear jewelry and still dye my hair to cover the grey
but i plan to stop it ....dyeing my hair that it ..
im just making inquiry here with you ....
I sopose that the real beauty
does trully come from within ...and is in the eye of the beholder...
but i respect personal choice ...its good to question ourselfes ...tho..
(still like to here other views ..and thanks to those who have expresed there"s here )
and yes our reasons for doing what we do ....blessing to all .. im keeping an open mind here ....i love to learn... and i love to live....to live and learn ...love n peace..
i do not like make-up. i have never had...it is another form of deception...however I am not saying that a really little bit of it is bad, but definitely not tons on your face. In the contemporary society ( again manipulation) there is value put only on youth and beauty....
Yesteday I saw a 50-something ( maybe 55 , maybe 56) woman riding a bike....she was so normal in it...and so beautiful...
I put on lipstick once as a young girl and it was bright red.....my friend joined me and we went to the local grocery chain.......How embarrassing!
I felt like every eye was on me, They did look at me and smiled that knowing smile, that did me in. I covered by bottom lip with the top twisted under and put my head down. Please don't look at me, is all I could think of. They did !!!!! I was shy as hell and knew I messed up badly.
I decided right then and there I was done with the ****. I am glad that I got away from all that at an early age of 8. I covered a zit here and there but that was about it.
Ah, well....my husband used to be one of those men that said he liked women better without makeup. Until he got used to seeing the difference between me with and without...he now says he doesn't like women with obvious makeup. You can't really tell I am wearing it, I just look better.
