By the Rivers
By the Rivers of yesteryear we sat down By the rivers of yesteryear we hung our heads In the night when all are sleeping unaware and the stillness closes in we remember back to the days when we were kids By the rivers of yesteryear we rest our hearts By the rivers of yesteryear we our tears do fall Our mothers lullabies hum in our ears "hush little baby" we sing through tears By the rivers of yesteryear the regrets untold By the rivers of yesteryear we our hearts can heal how small our troubles seem as life unfolds and we cried and we cried by the rivers of yesteryear and that time draws nigh. |

Dove
I held a dove today that was wounded in flight she tumbled down and hit the ground a thud is all we heard as the two lay side by side as instinct kicked in and she tried to get away, hobbling into the street I heard the ladies cry "don't let her get hurt" So approaching carefully I gently picked her up and cupped the dove in my hands and cooed softly to her frightened heart until she settled there giving her time to rest and breath Carrying her and checking her legs and wings I laid her down on the soft grass away from all the noise, and watched her from a safe distance until she fluttered away. How like doves we all can be or like the loving hands gently holding and helping one to fly again. I share these two poems to share a bit of solace in the turbulence, to express my feelings and help to purge the pain I feel in others, and remembering from whence we came and where we are returning, oneness. Thank you for sharing those unified serenity..
Let me add this one to yours .. Kindness mudra To See To see, to really see, you must take off your head and put it well aside, friends. Open the eyes of your heart instead. Open the ears of your soul and ride on the river of light that glows along: a constant caterpillar leading you back home to where you came from and have forgotten. Your eyes see not into the nature of things. They see the diver, but not the dive, they see the winding smoke, but not the fire burning inside, they see only the road before them, and not the moon sailing beside. Rather you gouge them out than stay blind to true vision which resides only in the chest, beating, and pounding. Why do you think the heart beats? To call your attention, so wandering, back to it. Come home then, come home. You can ride the big stream of heart. Let the spirit rise out of you like steam, like a snake uncoling, like a dreamer stepping into the dream. The flowers are watered then with your tears, the wounds are healed with your lips, and pain is found out in everyones' hearts and purged away to the lake, the sea, the ocean, where it drowns in the cleansing waters. Wash your ego from your self, and step out of your skin which is battle-worn and bruised from abuse. Come swim in the golden waters of this pond, naked, wearing only your spirit. It's warm here like luminous oil massaging you. There are morning doves and orchids at night and in the day, there is rest and the stars. The trees sing you lullabies in harmony with the breeze and the moon sometimes eclipses the sun. You always have playmates-- ones who cry and laugh at once, reveling in the irony, the paradox of the universe. They work to stop suffering, but their pain and their joy become one here --pain a vine winding around the tree of joy, and all explode together in green where branches touch the sky. __________________ |

As I read the poem about the Dove, It reminded me of the day I as up in the woods at my cabin, I heard a bird hit the window of the kitchen, as I went outside I found a morning dove sitting on the ground, after I picked up the dove I noticed her bleeding and I held her in the palm of my hand trying to comfort her. As she continued to breath and bleed I watched her head as it slowly started to bow down . As with each breath so did her head contnue to fall until there was no more space in between her head and my hand and then she had passed.
I felt so sad, helpless, as I watched something so graceful leave it's place here on earth and trust me in it's final moments here on earth, the beauty, the sadness, the grace, the moment in time ........................ Thanks for the poems! |
