Take a look at Greek mythology. The gods were portrayed as being jealous, deceitful, spiteful, loving, wrathful, etc etc. They were portrayed as having the same flaws as men. Who is to say the Egyptian gods were not the same? If this were the case, perhaps a lie can be made to sound like the truth. Give the fib enough truth to make it sound convincing.

Perhaps the disappearance of Ra ended the war faster than if he remained in view.


Personally, I do not put much stock into the show as it is but a show though there might be some actual history depicted in the show.
