Default Re: Turkey passes the point of no return...

On October 29, 1923, Mustafa Kemal Pasha, the liberator of his country, proclaimed the Republic of Turkey. The new homogeneous nation-state he created arose out of the ashes of the multi-ethnic Ottoman Empire. The new Republic and the old Sultanate were in sharp contrast to each other. As the theocratic Ottoman Empire, which survived over six centuries with its Sultanate and Caliphate came to and end, a new country called Turkey was born. The nation bestowed on him the name Atatürk, which means "Father of the Turks"...

He also believed in women's equality with men. The quotation below summarizes some his ideology.

"The humankind is consisted of two sexes, woman and man. Is it possible that a mass is improved by the improvement of only one part and ignore other? Is it possible that if half of a mass is tied to earth with chains and the other half can soar into skies?"

"Everything we see in the world is the creative work of women."

"Peace at Home, Peace in the World." ~M.K. Atatürk~

Atatürk was against mixing religion with government as well as for respecting every individual's personal belief.

"Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the people."

"Religion is an issue of conscience. Everyone is free to conform to the commands of their conscience. We show respect for religion. We are not against a way of thinking or thoughts. We are only trying not to mix religious affairs with the affairs of the nation and the state." ~M.K. Atatürk~...
