The Intuitive Self
“Intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”~Albert Einstein

“Intuition is a spiritual faculty and does not explain, but simply points the way.” ~Florence Scovel Shinn

"We are now approaching an ecological crises and I would like to explore the possible role rational thinking has played in causing this problem…thinking or being a thinker creates the sensation we are separate from what we are thinking about resulting in a feeling we are knowledgeable and independent…in doing so it gives us the impression of having superior understanding…with this skill, we seem to feel we cannot only control our own behavior but also to exploit the environment to satisfy our needs and gratifications…all of this contradicts the vast and subtle interdependent characteristics of Nature for which we are only a very small link…however we do have an alternative or complimentary way of understanding life and that is through intuitive thinking.

Analytical thinking is historically quite recent, whereas intuitive thinking has been mankind’s natural way of thinking since the beginning of time. As far as Western civilization is concerned, the classical Greeks “invented” analytical thinking; and the Romans built really straight roads with it. We can considerably claim the advances and dangers of our modern civilization to the relative imbalance of the importance and dominance given to analytical tools versus our intuitive senses over the last four hundred years.

Analytical thinking is a powerful tool. It is focused, sharp, linear, deals with one thing at a time, is brain centered, and tends to the abstract. It is helpful when an explanation is required, looks for the best option, and can be taught in the classroom to beginners.

Nature’s intuitive thinking has contrasting qualities: it is unfocused, nonlinear, sees many things at once, views the big picture, is heart centered, and tends to the real or concrete. Intuition is prepared to act on feelings or hunches. Intuition is a sense of the total organism understanding of a situation. And it is the basis of what is known as wisdom.

As we are now faced with problems which cannot be solved simply by analytical thinking alone, we have within ourselves a more natural form of thinking which waits for us to offer its much needed insights. And when our natural intuitive abilities are combined with our tools of analytical thinking,we are in the best position to fully understand the meaning of life’s experience."
note; from Sid's musing

“Trust your hunches. They’re usually based on facts filed away just below the conscious level.” ~Joyce Brothers

When you ponder upon opening the door of everything
to your future/now~
always remember too use both sides of your brain
the Intuitive mind and the Analytical surface mind
