I think the interview with James might refreshen the slate. What he calls the GSSC has become so fraught with habitual thinking, with dogma, with automated responses, so as to become less effective as tools for understanding.
Your last quote from James, ENDJoy, 'we have to do this for humanity, not just for ourselves', I disagree with. What we do for ourselves we do for humanity, what each does for him/herself affects us all.
Moreover, the paradox of 'teaching' is this: We resent being a teacher as well as being a follower. The Guru/Sage elevation is another trap.
We might remember this: Teach so you will learn. This goes for James as well.
