Elohim n. Old Testament. a Hebrew word for God or gods. [C17: from Hebrew 'Elohim, plural of Eloah God; probably related to 'El God]

Elohist n. Old Testament. the author or authors of one of the four main strands of the text of the Pentateuch, identified chiefly by the use of the word Elohim for God instead of JHVH (Jehovah).

Pentateuch (Bible), Torah (Judaism), Taurah (Islam) -

The first five books of Moses are called the Torah. These five books of the Old Testament stand in a special class and are called collectively the Pentateuch, meaning the five books. These are the books which the Jews called the Law and regarded as the most sacred part of the Bible. The five books of Moses are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
