There is some good dehydrated food out there such as Moutain House that has a 25 year shelf life. There are a number of resellers such as
http://www.nitro-pak.com/. I have noticed the prices seem to keep going up and up on this stuff and the supply can be somewhat erratic due to high demand. I live in Southern California, so it is prudent to have some kind of emergency supplies in case of earthquake or other natural disaster anyway. The dehydrated stuff may not be the greatest, but it stores well and all you need to do is add hot water and you are good to go. The last thing you need in a disaster is to be worrying about food when all hell breaks loose.
