I agree with Q. I have been discussing this issue in some other posts with RockyShorz. I believe the "rift" occurred prior to the Musharaff ouster, though it is likely that he was clinging to the friendship with the Bush/Cheney/Israel cabal (thus his ouster). It looks to me that Pakistan has allied with Russia/China(somewhat silent partner right now), Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, Iran, et alia versus U.S., Israel, Western Europe, et alia. This is a developement that has not been seen, at least publicly, since the conclusion of WWII and the creation of NATO, the Marshall Plan, the Soviet Bloc, etc...

I see Georgia and Pakistan as the central theaters in this "global shift", at least for the moment, with the fate of Iran in the balance. It seems to me that the U.S. gang needs to consolidate the Georgian and Pakistani situations prior to making the move on Iran.

This situation needs to be observed carefully.
