burgundia, I recently heard about this. Robert Bateman is a Canadian wildlife artist. Some people (like my sister who's an artist) don't like him - she prefers a personal integration of effects of things on the psyche, body etc. But for me, Bateman has a deep integrity to the animals - with anatomical accuracy, their environmental context.
He has a new series as I understand it, e.g. TIGER TRADE, DRIFTNET–PACIFIC WHITE-SIDED DOLPHIN AND LYSON ABATROSS with this exhibition in Russia. He's in St Petersburg October 8th for the grand opening at the State Russia Museum.
The Spectacular And Troubling World, According To Robert Bateman
Bateman Heads To Russia With Shows In St. Petersburg and Moscow
Gracing the same halls where masterpieces by da Vinci, Michelangelo, Monet, and Picasso have hung, the works of Canadian painter Robert Bateman will be featured at a series of one-man exhibitions in Russia starting later in 2009.
