The whole male/female, single/married, commitment/responsibility, freedom/irresponsibility, love/lust thing needs to be rethought. It's really screwed-up in my view. The divorce rate lends support to this view. Some view marriage as legalized prostitution! Come to think of it...why is a relationship any of the church's or state's business? Why do they have to butt in? As for government...we need to see other people. And don't get me started on protective parents butting in! Two(or three?!) people should be able to work out an honest, reasonable, compassionate arrangement without raising any eyebrows. It's up to them, right? Also, is it reasonable to expect people to stop looking at other sexy people once they get married? I have a bad habit of looking at other possibilities and thinking about other paradigms! What about fashion, tv, magazines, movies, etc, etc. Don't they unnecessarily and unfairly tempt us and taunt us? As for appearances...it's not how you look...it's how you see. Then add financial issues...and two loving people can become very unloving. Jesus seemed to indicate that being single wasn't so bad...and that in heaven there would be no marriage...and that we would be like the angels. Did Jesus and Mary have something going on? Hmmmm. On a site such as this...if someone is getting too hot(information-wise)...the potential partner may be CIA, NSA, MI6, Jesuit...or who knows who! I'm sure they are very nice...but business is business. On the other hand...I am getting tired of sleeping with myself...and having nightmares about the one that got away.
