Microwave Oven - Got One? Throw It Out!

Microwaves are beyond dangerous. if you have one throw it out!

Here is a fairly good article I'd encourage anyone no make that everyone to read, if they are still using a microwave!

I am sure most of the readers on here are wised up to the dangers of the microwave oven but for any readers that aren't or who have been wondering about them then please read this extremely important article below:

Peace.

We used to live in a pub, my Mum used to cook pub food using the micro-wave, she always said standing in front of that would kill her.
She died from cancer 12 years ago. :sad:

I must admit I still use one but always leave the room when its on, seems it damaged the food as well.
In the link he says get a Toaster Oven but I can't see that being very useful.
Cant pop some milk in that for a milky coffee :cup:

I do not microwave my food or my stepsons. I stopped using it in 2000. I read an article similar to this and it made a lot of sense. My hubby still uses one out of sheer defiance toward my ideas...lol. Not funny really, but it is his choice.

I have been nagged into this post by the 16 year old scientist who reckons that if you unplug a microwave, you can use it as a Faraday cage that will protect a foil wrapped computer from other forms of radiation.
Is he right?

No, the protection built in around a microwave is for microwaves only not any other frequencies. I used to work in a Faraday cage so to speak at Motorola and it's purpose is to block various radio frequencies.

That's weird.. I just got this gut feeling a few months ago to stop using mine..
I've barely tuched it ever since.... thanks for the info.... I'll listen to my gut more often... Antonia

As well as the radiations from a microwave oven being hazardous to the human body, it nukes all the food cooked in it, so there is no nutritional value in microwaved food anyway. I cringe when I see mothers heating up baby's bottles in a microwave.

Swanny! Dude!

There are many ways to make frothy milk other than the microwave! Put your milk in a coffee plunger and plunge up and down furiously and you'll have your frothy milk. Too lazy for that? Then, get a battery powered little swishy-stick gizmo, insert this in your milk and it will froth up for you. Or better yet, spend 50 - 100 pounds sterling and invest in a cheap espresso machine whereby you can have real ground organic coffee and then you can froth your own milk with the steam wand on the side and save yourself buying a coffee down at the local cafe!

Cheers

PS Sorry to hear about your Mum

Hey Swanny,
Toaster ovens rock! They heat up fast and and are pretty cheap to come by- highly recommended. Gave my waver away just before my tee vee.

You show me something that can cook food as fast as a microwave and I'll give you a high five.

I try to use my stove and ovens more than my microwave. Not always easy but it's safe to say that it doesn't get much use nowadays.

Edit: I always liked toaster ovens. Perhaps I'll toss out my microwave. I sometimes put convenience foods in the oven or on the stove instead.

Microwave Ovens installed at Thyroid height

I have noticed that in the US, over the counter microwave ovens are installed at Thyroid Gland height and people tend to stand in front of these ovens while warming or cooking food. This is a sure shot recepie for disaster as all microwave ovens leak radiation thru the front glass door. The power density of this radiation is high and disrupts thyroid function. Perhaps this is the reason why there is a high incidence of Thyroid malfunctions in populations these days.
2.4 GHz radiation has been proven to severely disrupt and damage Thyroid glad in lab rats.
Be careful and be safe.

peace and light

Microwave Radiation test shows how much leakage there is!....

WHAT IS MICROWAVE RADIATION?
Microwave radiation is the energy that causes the water molecules in food to vibrate rapidly. It is this rapid vibration that produces heat which, in turn, cooks the food.

However, it can also penetrate through living tissue which is why exposure to microwave radiation is harmful to your health. Microwave radiation is difficult cult to detect because it is both invisible and odorless. When a microwave oven is turned on, microwave radiation is present.

Microwave radiation disappears once you turn the oven off, but until then, you may be exposing yourself and your family to dangerous levels of radiation.

WHAT CAUSES MICROWAVE OVENS TO LEAK?
Slamming the oven door, dirt or food particles caught in the door seals and hinges, or basic wear and tear all cause the oven door to slightly separate from the oven enclosure.

Once this happens, invisible, but highly dangerous microwave radiation leaks through the small space and this can cause irreversible damage and injury to you and your family.

FACT: An Independent survey conducted among the Professional Service Associates, a group of microwave repair servicemen, indicated that over 56% of microwave ovens two years or older leaked levels of radiation 10% higher than the safety standards set by the FDA.

More often than not, a simple adjustment was all that was needed to stop the leakage.

WHAT CAN MICROWAVE RADIATION DO TO YOU?
The FDA has established microwave radiation exposure levels greater than 5mw/cm2 to be dangerous. Independent studies have revealed levels much lower can cause:

* Cataracts
* Skin Cancer
* Dizziness and Headaches
* Blood Disorders
* Increased Stress
* Birth Defects in Pregnant Women
* Central Nervous System Damage
* Temporary Sterility in Men
* Cardiovascular Problems
* Interference with some Pacemakers
