Google earth anomalies
Hi :original:
I've been watching Google Earth over the past few days and the weather forecast map shows some eery anomalies. Today we've got a large transparent polygon above the Artic and Russia, as if the clouds out there were stopped. Does anybody know whether it's an eventual bug or some huge hovering object linked to our October 14th's topic? :winksmiley02: (I can't upload the screen shot i took, too heavy...) You'll see a few other pictures below, dated from the 5th of October : http://10-14-08.blogspot.com/2008/10...gle-earth.html Peace, fun and love |
Re: Google earth anomalies
There is a permanent blind spot above the arctic and the antarctic because the satellites don't cover that area so they are missing data. The other shapes that pop up all over the world in various places, on various days are just where data is missing from the live weather feed at that time.

A picture I borrowed from zorgon, I hope he doesn't mind...
In this instance, showing the coverage at the one of the poles. http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/11/sats3sg2.jpg I hope this answers your query. |
