off topic weirdness?

I'm finding this site a little difficult to navigate (call me Duh) so here's for trying...
2 things this week raised my eyebrow -
FIRST, my daughter (who is aware) applied for a job at Target (they said they would be hiring a lot of new people soon) and she said they had some weird questions on the application, one in particular asked '...what percentage of politicians did the applicant believe were honest?' she checked less than 50%, they sent her a note in the mail and said '...sorry, we cannot hire you at this time' Is it me? or is that a weird question for employment?
SECOND, last night at about 7:40ish p.m. as I walked onto my porch, I heard a loud rumble that startled me, looked up and 4 military helicopters (in line) flew over, heading north, over Tampa. My daughter was in traffic a few blocks away saw it as well, we both picked up the phone to each other with ...did you see that, weird…
Any thoughts?

I grew up in Tampa, specifically port Tampa right outside Mcdill. Military activity isn't something new in the area really is it? Granted I haven't lived in Tampa for five years but as far as I know Mcdill is still there.

As for the questions on the job ap, many companies use a type of psycological questioneer to vet any future employees. Trying to gauge the likleyhood that you may be dishonest, that's probably what she encountered.
Not saying that your daughter is dishonest of course *smiles* I've never been hired by any company that used these tests and I consider myself honest.

yes, I mostly agree with you. McD does have manuvers (sp?) occasionally, just weird timing for me considering this time (kno wut i mean, vern?)
same with the app. I advised her to try and answer more in line with 'their' reality, doesn't change who she really is or what she really knows...
thanks for the response, as you know, finding people to have discussions with can be difficult. :thumb_yello:

Christmas is coming. It's time to load up on the Christmas help.

As far as the question, was it part of a larger Q & A? I've taken those before when applying for a job, sometimes 100 questions that seem unrelated to the job.

Q Is it ok to go 45MPH in a 35MPH area if everyone else is going 45MPH?

Later on, the same question will be asked but worded differently to see if the the answer is the same.

Q Do you always obey traffic laws when driving?

It's a psychological exam.

I've seen this question on a couple employment applications. They ask all kind of questions to try to determine your character, honesty, etc. They'll ask different questions in different ways to try to determine if you are just trying to tell them what they want to hear.

Though the politician question is kind of ambiguous, I guess if you say you think they are all honest you're DEFINITELY lying.
