Is Project Avalon under attack again.
 

I have been having trouble logging in to Avalon is it under attack again, or is this

just random maintenance. This is the first time I have been able to log in

today.

Not just you, joe2288. I've had no trouble logging on, when the site is up, but it's been down a lot of 2 days
(yesterday/today), not loading for me. This is what one status looked like about an hour ago.

Most users ever online was 761, 12-10-2009 at 09:53 PM.

Idk, that just raises more questions if only certain people are getting in, maybe

they are testing there capabilities of restricting access in certain regions of the

planet.

I couldn't get in for over an hour. I read PC are upgrading the site over this week . I wondered if that was it but didn't see them post a maintance time.

The server has had some reliability issues over the last few days. It is being investigated.

I have experienced problems recently too, including a vBulletin error message about not being able to connect to the database.

@Anchor: any interest in capturing the error messages for debugging purposes?

The probing for server vulnerabilities is non stop. Those people look for everything.
i.e.

1. High profile sites are viewed as excellent targets. They put more energy in trying to find open doors.
2.If the default database port is open and root has a weak password.
3. If the PHP version has any vulnerabilities.
4.If Mysql version has any vulnerabilities.
5.If the Operating System has any vulnerabilities.
6. Database code not filtered correctly >>"SQL injection refers to the act of someone inserting a MySQL statement to be run on your database without your knowledge."

I believe the issue maybe an upstream provider used by a number of ISPs is having problems. After a period of time the issue is resolved.

From a technical view point, I believe they identify the Hosting company's IP block. From there, the digging begins.
If one can view the server logs, it would probably tell an interesting story.

I had some problems too and now I have switched to firefox it is loading faster
