Cheap horse wins Kentucky Derby!! Beats 50-1 odds
This is a great story in the elite world of horse racing.
Longshot, 50-1, races to Kentucky Derby win Reuters May 2, 2009 http://www.calgaryherald.com/Sports/...140/story.html http://a123.g.akamai.net/f/123/12465...40/1558119.bin Mine That Bird, a 50-1 longshot ridden by Calvin Borel, drew away from the field in a dramatic stretch run to win the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs Saturday. The Kentucky-bred bay gelding, bought as a yearling for just $9,500, left the field in his wake to record his first victory of the year in America's most prestigious race. Pioneer of the Nile finished second and Musket Man third. The winning time for the mile-and-a-quarter race over a sloppy Churchill Downs track was 2:02.66. |

Thar s/he blows - Mine That Bird!!!
burgundia - I did wonder about the race as a metaphor, too, even though this horse is a bay, so I guess he could be a 'dark horse' (but not black like a Friesian). Anyway, I'm always on the lookout for spirit horses. I DO like this fellow - he has a nice head. It's a surprise! A big upset! 777 - I thought of you too when I saw the name of the second place horse!! :lol3: (First place: the unseen world of Grand Possibilities!!??) By the way, does naming the beautiful in the ethereal, esoteric world make it go away?? :mfr_omg: http://www.sportsbookbettingpromotio...-that-bird.jpg |

Re: Cheap horse wins Kentucky Derby!! Beats 50-1 odds
I seem to remember that you love horses as I do no caste. Here is a beautiful shot of an Arab stallion. Something about pure black horses. They have an unusual spirit about them. My daughter had a black mare that behaved like a black stallion initially, but after they bonded she was extremely loyal and always tried her best. She also hated her rider falling off and would not go forward well until she new you could ride well! Another querky thing about her was she mothered other animals. She would steal newborn lambs and calves off their mothers and take them away!! These newborns would follow at her feet!!! She was also very fierce when we took the babies away from her!!
BTW thanks for the friendship request. As you dont have contact I have to do it here. http://horses-etc.com/images/Anthem_006a.jpg Love and Light Carmen |

Arabs are beautiful and so graceful. And they have such delicate "features".

Re: Cheap horse wins Kentucky Derby!! Beats 50-1 odds
Carmen, I have an afterthought about Arabian horses. Well, 2 afterthoughts. First, their magical gait. And second, as a child I imagined I could be a Bedouin. Arabs were my first horse fantasy! Now that I think about it: being a girl, I would be cooking for the horsemen, married at 9 years of age, childbearing by 12 - and still cooking until I died - no horses in sight!!
Whew - that fantasy didn't come true. :mfr_lol: :sweatdrop: |
Re: Cheap horse wins Kentucky Derby!! Beats 50-1 odds
Yeah no caste, I have those sorts of memories and those same characters are in this life. That life engendered such a powerful hatred that it tied me into them to be met now for all to be understood, healed and for love to blossom. I think maybe the horses were my companions and ones I could trust. To get away out into the hills on my horse by myself is a very freeing experience.
Love and Light Carmen Ps My half Arab/Irish Hunter fellow demonstrated for my one day his desert heritage. My coat slipped off the saddle when I was leading him and he stomped it to death as if it were a snake!! Very interesting to observe. We dont have snakes here in New Zealand!! |

Carmen and no caste, sit back and enjoy these two examples of poetry in motion.

Thanks, Brinty!! It was beautiful. :original:
Carmen - Your jacket-stomping episode, wow. Burgundia - That's the thing! They appear delicate, like frickin' unicorns! Here's another video, as a small ode to interested horsewomen and horsemen. These 2 are fine pals - no bridle/ head gear into the demonstration. Jonathan Field & Hal - Jonathan Field Natural Horsemanship YouTube: |

That was wonderful to watch. Thanks no caste. Natural Horsemanship is how I work with my horses, it works a treat.

MAGIC! A further example of what trust and love can achieve between species. Isn't it a pity that the same isn't practiced between humans?

Re: Cheap horse wins Kentucky Derby!! Beats 50-1 odds
Honestly, I think the sport of horse racing is barbaric.
However, the symbolism of a "cheap" horse beating out fancier horses is like David slaying Goliath and right now, we need these examples of symbolism to prove to us that we are winning the war against TPTB. |
