Icebergs in the Antarctic area sometimes have stripes, formed by layers of snow that react to different conditions. Blue stripes are often created when a crevice in the ice sheet fills up with meltwater and freezes so quickly that no bubbles form. When an iceberg falls into the sea, a layer of salty seawater can freeze to the underside. If this is rich in algae, it can form a green stripe. Brown, black and yellow lines are caused by sediment, picked up when the ice sheet grinds downhill towards the sea. Here's what I mean... Hi Antale, these photos are so beautiful. Never saw anything like this on our Anararctic trip a few years ago even though what we saw was amazing. These are the creme a la creme! We did have a most extraordinary whale sighting though!

Thanks for your replies-natural art at it's best-i would love to get down to Antarctica to do a long photo shoot-some very intersting scenarios and scapes down there.I love extreme terrains and conditions-makes you feel alive!!lol.
