Where to get silver and gold?

Hello avalonians,
This is my first post, I have been overwhelmed by how much info is here and havn't gotten to posting much yet. Anyways, thanks to all just for engaging this...I have been a hardcore Camelot fan since I discovered it, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one.

I have read much of the threads about gold and silver (and doing my own research), and now does seem to be the time to get precious metals if one can afford it and hasn't done so already. I havn't seen any good suggestions of what dealers are out there that can provide it though. The coin shops in my town don't have any and can't even put in orders because the demand is so high and the supply so little, or so they say. The metals market is scary to someone like me who has just been de-virginized to it, and I don't want to get scammed or wait 2 months for a delivery. I am personally looking for junk silver and/or 1 oz. rounds from a good source...can anybody that knows more about this point me in a good direction?

I have some money that was given to me by a family member through inheritance, and it is just sitting in a credit union right now, which my Dad and most would assure me is insured by the National Credit Union Administration, but I still want to get silver--does anyone think this is a bad idea, caus most of what I've seen people are urging others to get precious metals while we still can. And what about the possibility of confiscation?--I have heard that they can do this with gold but not silver, but I don't get how they could take away peoples physical money at all. Can they? How do you know, and avoid this if true?

Any help/advice as to who I can trust with buying silver--American Eagles, Kennedy halfs, junk...I don't really know, what should I be looking for in my situation--at a good price is greatly appreciated.

Also, I'm in Oregon, so any Oregonians that want to connect are more than welcomed to message me or post. I am a college student who is basically alone (besides all of you wonderful people) and overwhelmed in trying to figure all these crazy happenings out and what I can do to prepare myself, so thanks again to anyone who replies with helpful/encouraging info. I don't really have anyone to talk to about this type of stuff, so I feel this forum will be a good outlet for me in the future, but I'm knowingly relying on all of you for guidance. Let the postings begin!!--for me! Just this 1st post is liberating for me in a strange way.

ps-I hope we get something more from George Green soon, I really value what he has to say and think that he is more right than any of us realize yet...where are you George? I wish he was on the forum.

I am on the search for gold too. I am up in the Seattle area. I'll let you know if I find out anything. Agree about George Green and wonder if he has moved South yet. It's important to remember the changes are just beginning and the so called recession is still a bit on the horizon. Should be an interesting few years ahead. Lots of good luck to us all.

Having some gold and silver is a good idea.

However, you need to remember that just because people on these forums are preparing for the end of the world doesn't mean it is coming.

I was discussing this with my Grandpa a few days ago and he basically said that people these days are idiots, just like the young of every generation. Anytime bad economic times hit, they immediately think its the end of the world.

H is greek and lived through the depression, saw his money turn to toilet paper, lived through germans killing people in the streets during WW2, lived through the economic collapse of WW2 that was in Europe and he has lived through everything since.

He doesn't have fingers or toes enough to count how many "ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!" situations he has seen in his lifetime.

Basically, a hedge against the collapse of the dollar is always a good idea, thats just common sense.

Just don't fool yourself into thinking that an economic collapse means you will wake up one day and the world will have gone from great to no water/electricity/food as some here want to suggest.

Through experience comes wisdom, and it seems like your Grandpa is a very wise man. Take pause and listen to what he has to say. Thanks Grandpa.

Gold and Silver coins are very hard to find right now. So don't be surprised that the prices will be above the spot price by quite a bit.

I'm even finding dehydrated food in many catagories like eggs to be a problem too.

But try ebay, or Roberts and Roberts and ask for Tim

You can try Colonial Resources (search google). I bought silver coins last week, but there is no gold coins available from what they told me, or very hard to get. If you can find gold and silver coins it is never too late, because both gold and silver will go up in value. Although my main reason in getting them several years ago was for security and use for bartering should the dollar be so worthless than no one will want it.

Silver was under $9 and gold at around $680 when I first bought, but the experts say it is never too late.

Re: Where to get silver and gold?

Now I have been on the search for gold and silver also, and I have read people saying they have been able to find very little quantities. Now what I;m curious about is how much are people buying when they do find some. I found some 1 once silver coins and just decided to buy like about 10 now.

I did this to 1. see if the place can deliver, because I'm afraid that if i order to much i will never receive it all because of the lack of silver and gold right now.

I'm not to sure what expect in the near future, so I don't want to go blowing all my hard earned money.

Now i know everyone is going to have a different answer to this, but what do you feel is a good amount of silver and/or gold to have physically in case the **** does hit the fan.

i've fought through a few wars myself & People in his day were idiots complete also, most the population was & is asleep; They will be in for a much rudder awakening then even myself. I could be considered young & ive been doin prep work for certain up & coming events from birth.

Does this make me a fool by G-fathers definition? or would it be cause i listen to intuition over someone else's opinion.

Also, im feeling nice today soo instead of trapping your grandfather's soul in a card i will spare him & u today, muwahaha.

Fo real though It doesnt take a masters to know when socialists have infiltrated your gov.

-anyone remember the scene in the OG war of the world's where the dude trying to get into the truck offers to buy a ride & gets tossed out. Jewels, cash silver & gold are seen in his suitcase & due to the panic of recent global events in this case it was worthless. YOU CANT EAT METALS!!

Id think 10 is a good starting collection for those who are concerned of freetrade & barter but dont come back here in a few years yelling at me cause you "could" "should" "would" have made more $ in return.

He was referring to people who blow every situation out of control. His usage of the word "idiots" was a metaphor for "inexperience".

Anyways, in most cases, all the preparation that people think will save them, will not. Some idiot will burn your home down or break your door down and kill you or whatever.

PS:
I agree with you 100% about gold. Metals will not have any value in a total anarchy driven collapse, until the later days when food sources have been rebuilt.

However, they are a good hedge against the falling dollar until things collapse.

Re: Where to get silver and gold?

Be carefull when buying, dealers know whats going on in the worlds rumor mill and are taking advantage of it.

I was buying generic bars and rounds, to prevent paying colletor value. No place in town now has bullion available so I moved to 2008 walking liberty's. This was going ok until I walked into the dealer I had turned to recently and he jacked the prices up even after the recent devaluation of the market.

So basicaly I told the guy my money spends good elsewhere, realy it's to bad because I was about to make my largest purchase yet.

I suggest checking spot value before buying and don't pay a dime over $3.00 an oz. from spot (silver).

Some places are even trying to charge full price on 90% scrap coin silver, This is totaly dishonest and people like this should not be dealt with.

As far as how much to invest, It should not be looked at as an investment but rather a vault for your personal wealth (hedge). The idea behind precious medals is sorta like this.

$9.00 = 1 oz. silver = 9 loafs of bread

$20.00 = 1 oz. silver = 9 loafs of bread

$4.00 = 1 oz. silver = 9 loafs of bread
