This is one of the "explanations"...however...that is not what I see. Very interesting photo, in an area that peaks my interest in the first place.

It seems that Beth Petersen, the reporter was willing to settle for just about any explanation except an intelligently controlled craft.

It doesn't have to be a craft. Electromagnetism might as well be an element, just like water, with its own life forms living exclusively in it. It looks like an electromagnetic jellyfish.

Yup. Also it could be the proximity to the field made what's been there all along more visible.
Someone let the duck blind, float too close to the ducks ;)
